Janelle, Employment Coordinator

Janelle began her career at West Business Services in 2006 as a sales associate. Today, she works for our Human Resources team to recruit top sales talent.

What about the culture at West Business Services is different from where you've worked in the past?
Having worked at West Business Services both in sales and now as a Recruiter, I've had the chance to get to know many of our employees. I find it great how everyone I know is so different and comes from diverse backgrounds yet they all work so well together.

When, and in what capacity did you begin with West Business Services? What position do you currently hold? What skills did you bring to your career at West Business Services that have served you well?
I began on the Financial Services team in 2006. I moved into my current position of Employment Coordinator in 2007, and I now split my time between the Appleton and Middleton locations. The sales and on campus recruiting experience I brought to West Business Services has helped me reached my goal of becoming a Recruiter.

Other than the pay and benefits, what have you gained during your time with West Business Services that you take into your life outside work?
I'm so grateful I've been able to build and maintain so many wonderful relationships with fellow employees. Taking that a step further, I think it's incredible that I've been able to do this on all levels. I've learned so much from our sales associates and have received a great deal of guidance from our Business Directors and Vice Presidents, which is uncommon in many organizations. I've also developed as a leader and professional, which continues to benefit me on a daily basis both inside and outside of work.

A lot of businesses say their employees work on teams. What about West Business Services really makes you feel part of a team?
I was a sales associate for more than a year, and the day-to-day team approach was hands down the reason I loved my job. Every day we had new team incentives and contests, and we were constantly motivating each other to do well. On top of all that, the mentoring and coaching that was provided really made me feel supported by a team from day one. When I first started I went a week-and-a-half without a sale. I was the only person ready to give up on myself. The support of my team and manger was why I ended up doing so well on the program.

Now as a Recruiter I feel even more strongly about this. In Human Resources it is absolutely a team effort. I could not do my job successfully without the support of our entire team. Each person is so important to our success.

West Business Services takes pride in being employee-oriented. Do you have examples of how this employee-oriented culture positively affected you?
We have a committee devoted to coming up with fun events for our employees to be involved in, including softball leagues, company golf outings and picnics. That itself is a good indication that we have an employee-oriented culture. I've attended these events and in doing so have met so many people. It makes coming to work everyday that much more enjoyable when you have good relationships with your co-workers.

What words would you use to describe your job? What words describe West Business Services as a whole?
My job is fast paced, challenging and exciting. West Business Services Business Services is a company that is growing in every sense of the word, and because of that growth every individual who walks in the door has the opportunity to grow with us and achieve career success.

When you look to build a career, you're thinking long-term. What about West Business Services makes it a good place to build a career rather?
The fact that West Business Services is doing so well and is consistently growing opens the door to so many different advancement opportunities. We are also great at looking out for our employees and helping them become as successful as possible. Just because someone is struggling on one program doesn't mean there is not a future for them at West Business Services. Instead, we talk with them to find out which of our programs would be best suited for them. Because of this, employees can really excel and move up within the company.
